Skin

Travel and you'll know your skin.

He came from Africa, Simply unsure of himself. He said she didn't look like the average Jamaican woman. She acted like she never understood his words.

After he accused her, Accused her of not being able to love him because of his skin.

She was not black enough.

In another world, They said she was not welcomed. Being naive of her skin she did not understand why. The world was free, And all she wanted to do was buy.

Going in anyways escorted, Escorted her out of being not good to enter because of her skin.

She was black enough.

Black, White. Dark, Light. Indian, Asian.

Beige.

Colour me beige.

Colour her in, Colour him in, That's what you do, This world.

So full of colours, We forget to see. He, She, Inside, For who they are, Personality, Heart, Lungs, Peeing yellow, Pooping brown.

Skin, Brown skin.

Skin, You want skin.

Epi, Demis, Which part. Tell her which part. Tell him which part.

Skin, Take it off, Remove the outer colouring, And you will get red, A blood that runs deep, Deeper than Skin.

See, Complexion is just an outer boundary, Race is just a social boundary, Skin is just a protective boundary.

Yet still we are so scared to go beyond our boundaries, We sit and judge this colouration, To tell us, Who he is, What she does, Where he lives, How her past has built her bitter, made him privileged, allowed her to suffer, created him evil.

Skin, You want skin, Little boy from Africa, You want skin, Big man from Cuba, You want skin, Blondy from Europe, You want skin.

Take it!

Skin, She has nothing to do with this skin, Her skin does not define her, She will not allow you to define her because of her skin.

Ignorant you are, If you choose to defy that skin, Skin was just created, More melenin for the heat, Less for the cold.

You are not defined by your skin, They are no global boundaries to you and this thing, So stand up, Up for your skin, Let him know, You are no different from him.

Black, White. Dark, Light. Asian, Indian.

Beige, Colour her beige. Colour us all beige.

No skin, Just beige. Being Equal In Gratitude for Everyone.
