THE STORY
Who am I? What Adversities have I faced? Where have I found happiness? When did I master self? Why can I motivate?
Who exactly is Shakira N. Mills?
The Anthropology Student? A Past Governor? A Immaculate Conception High School Alumni? A Passionate Servant Leader? A Public Speaker?
Born and raised in rural St Andrew, Kingston, Jamaica, by an extended family, I have been molded into a humble, yet confident individual. This confidence did not happen overnight as we all go through several phases of insecurity. However, I have learnt and currently strongly believe in loving and appreciating yourself for exactly who you are, and always strive to become your ideal self.
I am dedicated, selfless and empathetic. I am in love with my country Jamaica. I hold a strong affirmation that there is a higher being, God, that allows my light to shine. I am born in August, five feet two inches, one hundred and thirty pounds, a lover of tea, indulgent of cheesecake and grapenut icecream, the queen of bright colours and I’d like to believe that I killed the shoe game at one point in my life. We all have things that make us. These are the things that we should embrace most, the small yet simple key elements of our lives.
Now, not because of my certainties means that hardship is not prevalent. From finances to abuse, I have faced and survived it all. I cannot and will not attest to understanding every issue that one can face in this world, as to each individual, a difficulty faced imprints on them differently. However, I have the empathy to stand with those who have faced other types of adversities that I have not faced.
Despite the challenges we face in life, whether small or huge, we must learn to cope and find the positive. This leads to true happiness, as you have not chosen a façade, but decided to stand up and understand the game of life for exactly what it is.
It is for these reasons why I have started Serenity Motivated. I have the zeal ready to drive others through my experiences to become the best version of themselves.
